About ToursByLocals Guides

Tour guides are the foundation of ToursByLocals. Here's how we make sure they're great.

1. Before they become a guide, each undergoes a selection process:

initial telephone interview to determine if they have the necessary ToursByLocals guide qualifications
tour guide agreement to our business principles
guide confirms that they meet all legal requirements to give tours in their area
reference and background check
second telephone interview

2. After acceptance, we provide our guides with:

all the tools needed to create a professional web presence
training tools to help design quality tour offerings
review of tour offerings for clarity and language before they're posted
general liability and participant accident insurance through Lloyds of London - contact us for specific details

3. Ongoing quality measures:

unedited reviews of tours from travelers like you
assistance from ToursByLocals if problems arise between you and your guide
removal from system for failure to abide by our business principles (money refunded if your guide fails to adhere to them)
guides don't get paid until they've successfully delivered your tour

THE TOURSBYLOCALS DIFFERENCE

You choose the ACTUAL PERSON who will give your tour. See their photo, bio, credentials and communicate with them in advance via our website. They are locals, living in the same area as the tour.
ONLY THE BEST GUIDES. Guides can't buy their way onto our system - each is chosen by ToursByLocals.
All Tours are PRIVATE, only you and people you choose.
Guide services are priced PER TOUR, not PER PERSON. However, there may be a 'per person' price component if the tour involves external costs such as admission tickets, etc.
Tours shown on website can be purchased directly - or the guide can customize them at your request.
