There are iconic hikes in any world class outdoor destination. Making it to the top of the Stawamus Chief is one of those hikes in British Columbia. The stellar view you will be rewarded with from the summit will come at a price.

To get to the top of the third peak, you'll ascend 750 meters, or 2500 feet. And you'll still have to come down. The trail is rough. The incline steep. The footing treacherous. You'll pay your way to the top with sweat and sore quads.

But it is well worth it.

We'll hike through the campsite at the base and then climb up the Shannon Falls/Stawamus Chief trail, which is a demanding and beautiful path.

There are three separate summits to visit - if you have the energy. Many people choose to visit just the first peak. To get to the second demands you descend partway and then climb up once again.

To get to the third peak after wards requires yet another descent/ascent.

Choose any one of the peaks or any combination of the three according to your fitness and ambition. Or do A

Departure by luxury sedan from the North Vancouver Sea Bus Terminal at the Lonsdale Quay.

The ride to Squamish takes slighly less than one hour as you wind along the scenic Sea to Sky highway with views everywhere.

On the way up, we'll take several stops to rest and appreciate the splendid natural views.

Should you elect to attempt another peak, we'll descend to the saddle and head back up to the next peak. NOTE: Covering multiple peaks requires that you be in very good physical condition.

On the way down, the quadriceps will be burning as you descend the equivalent of two Empire State Building's worth of elevation.

At the bottom, we'll high five each other and perhaps stop at the nearby Taco Bell to refill on the way home
