Within the ecological preserves of Joatinga and Mamangua are 12 communities of "caiçaras", conserving the original culture in a region without any roads or electrical resources.
These fishermen communities submit to the constraints caused by living in an ecological reserve: prohibition of tree felling, hunting and construction and the all-important decrease in areas that can be farmed.
Brazil's only tropical ford. A sea arm surrounded by montains, with 8 km in extension, Containing Ilha Grande Bay's most beautiful marsh, 14 nautic miles, 26 km form Paraty.

Boarding toward the Beach Cruise (1 1/2 hour), which begin the journey of 2 hours until the top of Pico do Mamanguá. After get down from the peak, will be offered lunch in the restaurant along the Beach of Cruzeiro. Return to Paraty at 05:00 pm
9:00 am : leaving from the dock heading to Mamanguá (1 1/2 hours)
10:45 am: hiking to the Mamanguá Sugar loaf peak from Praia do Cruzeiro (2 hours)
1:30 pm : getting back to the beach (lunch optional)
3:00 pm : lunch time
4:00 pm : returning to Paraty visiting 2 islands to dive and sonrkelling
5:30 pm : back to Paraty |
