He took us to and from Sergiev Posad by train telling us about the history of the Trinity Monastery en route. When we got there we were able to spend all the time we wanted at the monastery. The local guide Daniel arranged at the monastery (Svetlana) was also excellent, as was the restaurant he chose for our (late) lunch. He came up with some very interesting and off the beaten path things for us to see, such as the souvenir market, the Cold War bunker, and the Tolstoy house. Steve M., United States Jan 18/12 Daniel met my plane at Moscow's SVO airport exactly as promised and quickly escorted me to my hotel via express train and metro, as I had requested. The next day we toured downtown Moscow. Daniel's English is superb, as is his knowledge of Russian history and fine arts. He took pains to understand my desires for the tour and accommodated them fully. He even helped me exchange train tickets from Moscow to St. Petersburg! Dan is very pleasant. Although he is listed as advanced rather than fluent in English, we had no trouble understanding him or the information presented. The only negative comment we would make is that we spent too much time in the Kremlin's cathedrals and not enough in the Armory. We didn't get to the Diamond Fund at all as we ran out of time. Maybe we should have asked Dan to move on quicker, but this was our first tour and we were unsure how things work. Day 2 5 stars Dan did all that was asked. But this comment applies to everything (except the metro) in Moscow. Prices in a 2008 Frommer's tourbook were off by more than 100%, and sometimes up to 250%. Nancy Lefler, United States Jul 4/10 Daniel did everything we asked and was very knowledgeable about Moscow. He was also able to adjust as we went along on the day of the tour. We had been in Moscow for several days before we met Daniel and seen a couple of things he was planning for us, so adapted to this with no problem. He got us all on our trains and to the airport when we needed to be there. We were very happy with his knowledge and abilities. We were lost at a Metro station and he took the time to show us how to use the Metro and where we could go on our own to see a special site. If we are in Moscow again we will insist on using him.
