Judith McCarver, United States Aug 8/11 Julia was our tour guide. Her English was excellent. She was very knowledgable about the city of St. Petersburg, and also its long history. She was sincerely kind, always patient, and always flexible and accomodating. We would definitely use Tours by locals again based on this experience. We would definitely recommend it to others, and if we return to St. Petursburg, we would personally request Julia. Our driver Andre was also pleasant, competent, and timely. Carla Seier, Canada Jun 20/11 There were five in our group, some with mobility issues. Our guide, Anna, and our driver, Sergei, were phenomenal. They did everything they could to make our tour wonderful. St. Petersburg is not super accessible for wheelchairs or scooters but because we were a 'small' group we were able to go to the head of the long line up many times. Anna answered our endless questions, and was very knowledgeable. We packed a lot into two days, incl. some special interest stops we requested. Highly recommend them!! Gary Williams, United Kingdom Jul 17/10 Do yourself a favour and book Elena as soon as possible. She was brilliant! We were a party of six including two elderly parents with walking difficulties so our programme needed to be flexible and enjoyable. Elena was very personable, extremely knowledgeable (but not in a boring guide type way) and very accommodating to our full and changing itinerary. Svetlana is an art historian, very fluent in English; friendly, sociable, knowledgeable, always checking on my interests &and energy level. We first planned the day around some churches and museums to learn more of Russian history & society; a trip (adventure?) on the Metro; & to walk the regular streets of the city & talk about life in Russia. I was delighted with the service and the company of this charming guide. Kiffin Miller, Australia Jul 13/09 This tour just for the two of us was well worth the reasonable cost. Elena was able to get us into sites without having to queue. She has a great knowledge of the history and places we saw. Things that you would walk past without a second glance she was able to provide us with a fascinating background story. We saw Tsarskoe Selo and Pavlovsk using a driver and car that Elena organised. A great days outing, we have no hesitation in recommending these tours.
