Rocamadour is settled in the North of the "Natural Regional Park of the Causse du Quercy". This park has 2 major valleys "vallée de la Dordogne" and "Vallée du Lot" and one huge limestone plateau in between the valleys. The rough nature and landscape made out of dry grass lands and oak forests is hosting the most beautiful stone buildings in France. Built along the centuries by local shepperds and rich wine farmers, the farms, the pigeon houses, the watermills, the shepperd huts, the fountains, stone bread ovens and so on + the very rich and various fauna and flora makes the area a perfect place for eco-tourism. There is no better way to discover all this + the locals with their traditional way of life, than by foot.
Overnight at the very lovely hotel www. hotel-chateau-alvignac. com where Jean-Philippe cooks the best food in the region, you can discover the area with a professional guide. We will walk each day between 5 and 10 miles and stop over at many places to visit. Ask for the detailed program! |
