Tour of the Little Karoo and Garden Route |
This tour takes you right away from the stress of the city to the wide open spaces of the calm Karoo, a semi-desert region of beautiful, dramatic landscape and interesting people. Once an inland sea, now fossils abound as do crystals from the reefs of quartz squeezed between sandstone. It is an ancient place with traces of the original inhabitants of the area, the KhoiSan in the names of the rivers and valleys and their art etched on cave walls. And then over the Outeniqua mountains to the sea - the Garden Route. The change in scenery is sudden and remarkable. The Garden Route has a totally different climate to that of the Little Karoo. It supports rainforests and the rich unique vegetation of the Cape - Fynbos. It is an area of long sweeping sandy beaches along the Indian ocean, indigenous forest and high mountains. A nature lover's paradise. The many faces of Mother Nature in one tour. |
