Truly a must for all 'Out of Africa' fans, this visit includes a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, former home of the authoress of the book Out of Africa, where we immerse ourselves in her romantic life history, and learn some little known facts about her life in Kenya. The beautiful gardens boast a spectacular view of the Ngong Hills, where Denis Finch-Hatton, Karen's lover who died in a tragic airplane accident in Tsavo, lays buried.
The nearby Giraffe Centre is a sanctuary for the rare and protected Rothschild Giraffe, one of the 3 races of giraffe found in Kenya. One may touch, and feed by hand the beautiful creatures that live in the private reserve of the Giraffe Manor.
The tour ends with a visit to the Kazuri bead and pottery factory, a women's self-help project renowned for its unique and innovative ceramic pottery and jewellery, and some shopping at Utamaduni Craft Shop.
