Delhi has been inhabited for over a millennium. From ancient monuments to high rise buildings, we have it all here.
However one part of Delhi that stands out is central part of the city popularly known as Lutyen's Delhi (named after its architect Edward Lutyens).
Built between 1912 and 1930, 'New' Delhi was chosen to replace Calcutta as the seat of the British Indian Government. In undertaking this project Lutyens invented his own order of classical architecture, which has become known as the "Delhi Order" and was used by him for several designs in England, such as Campion Hall, Oxford.
Enjoy a short drive and a walk across Lutyen's and bask in the glory of the British Indian empire, which may have ceased to exist but continues to remain an integral part of the city courtesy its architect, Edward Lutyens.
Visit the India Gate and adjoining areas such as the "Coronation Durbar. "
Visit the Rashtrapati Bhawan (President's House) and the North Block and South Block. Precaution: On account of security reasons, entrance to these buildings is not allowed. However opportunities to sight-seers and camera lovers are available in plenty.
