This tour combines a favela visit with a walk in the nature reserve Atlantic Rainforest covering the hill of Babilônia. We will walk through the borough of Leme and the favelas of Babilônia and Chapéu Mangueira all the way up to the top of the hill where you will have an amazing 360 degrees round view of the city of Rio de Janeiro, comparable only to the Christ and the Sugar Loaf. You will learn about the history of the borough and the communities, hear about government projects and private efforts to improve the live in favelas, learn about social projects, get information about security, organized crime, and UPPs, hear about films that were filmed in the communities, and get in close contact with the people and the way of life in a favela. |
