A fabulous example of Buddhist influence on India, the Kanheri caves are a set of 109 Buddhist caves, chisseled by hand, from the living rock of a 1500 feet high ravine,dating back to 1st century BC!
An added advantage of visiting these mesmerizing caves are that they are located deep withing the forests of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, located north of Borivali on the western outskirts of Mumbai, India.
This is an ideal short tour if you want to see ages old Buddhist caves and yet not travel too far away from Mumbai. |

The best part about 'touring with a local' means there is no fixed 'rigid' itinerary.
I will come pick you up in a car and we'll drive to the National Park, visit the caves, have a good time and I'll drop you back to your hotel, or wherever you would prefer. |
