Experience the power and beauty of these peaks on an expert-led hike, learning how the land has been used by Native Americans, miners and, today, skiers. Walk among majestic wildflowers and look for Rocky Mountain wildlife.

*Hike on old mining trails, through open meadows, over mountain passes and to some of the Rockies' most interesting geological features.

*A trek over the West Maroon Pass trail to Hasley Pass at 12, 000 feet offers spectacular views of the Maroon Bells.
*Hike amongst the largest Aspen tree stand in CO during the fall months
Activity Notes
Hiking 2-12 miles a day with elevations gains of 800-2, 500 feet. Hiking elevations of 8, 000-12, 000 feet. Your activity level and interests will set the length and duration of the hikes on the tour. |

| I will meet you in Crested Butte at your hotel or other designated site. Having prearranged our hikes prior to the start date, we will set off for our first destination of the day. There are four main drainages with numerous trails accessed from each drainage. Hiking one of these trails such as the West Maroon Pass trail to Hasley Pass will elicit discussions as to the geology and natural history of the area. In the summer the wildflowers carpet the open fields through which you are hiking. Another destination might be to hike a trail off of Kebler Pass road (one of the 4 drainages) amongst Aspen trees and meadows of flowers. Yet another might be to hike up a glacial valley filled with flowers and beaver ponds called Oh Be Joyful to the base of the Ruby Range. This is up Slate River drainage. All these hikes require an early start to beat any summer afternoon rains. These are just a few of the MANY itineraries we could create for you. |
