The Hermitage Museum possesses one of the largest collections in the world (about 3 million exhibits, including paintings, sculpture, jewelry, applied art, furniture, etc.) displayed in the former royal rooms.
The collection was started by Peter the Great and enlarged by Russian Empress Catherine the Great in the middle of the 18th century. Nowadays the collection occupies 6 buildings and a newly built open storage building.
By your special request, I can arrange a visit to the two special storage rooms which display the highlights of archaeological excavations (Scythian gold jewelry) and the Romanov's jewelry and diplomatic gifts.
