For this tour we need an early start, as it is a day filled with scenic travelling. Leaving Cape Town, we travel towards Gansbaai (about 1h20min drive). We enjoy splendid views over False Bay, and we pass various villages like Grabouw, very famous for its apples. We then reach Hermanus, one of the best whale watching areas.
Your excursion to Geyser and Dyer Islands begins at the picturesque Kleinbaai Harbour, starting with an educational briefing over a light breakfast. The trip takes about 4-5 hours.
It normally takes about an hour of chumming and baiting before the first Great White hones in on the bait with deadly accuracy. Great Whites can smell the chum slick from considerable distance. The shark is an inquisitive creature and often comes right up to the boat, bringing it's head so far enough out of the water that you can touch it! - the huge gaping jaws revealing the true danger of the imminent encounter.
