Step back in time on the Gold Trail, the paved road built by African slaves in the 18th Century to bring gold and precious stones out of the Brazilian interior and onto ships bound for Portugal. After walking on the trail through the rainforest we stop at waterfalls for swimming and finish up at a cachaça distillery where the rum is still made the traditional way. |

09.00 Pickup at hotel for public bus ride to start of trail (about 20 mins)
10.00 Walk on Gold Trail, the paved road built by African slaves through the Rainforest in the 18th Century.
Duration: about 1 1/2 hours.

11.30 Visit Cachaça distillery where the sugarcane rum is still made the traditional way
12.00 refreshing swim in freshwater pool 'Tarzan's Pool' then visit the Toboggan waterfall slide.
13.00 tour ends at local restaurant that does great Brazilian food. |

3 of the very best days I could imagine in Paraty were two day hikes with Rodrigo. Really superb! Sincere congrats not only the original and off-the-beaten-track content of the trips but also on achieving a rare guiding mix of great fun, humour, exercise, knowledge and professionalism. Would highly recommend to anyone to take a trip with Rodrigo!

Making arrangements with Rodrigo for a couple of days of kayaking was super easy and I felt more like I was making arrangements to hang out with a friend for the adventure! We kayaked to several isolated beaches and hiked around... it felt like a real untouched way to see the area and all its beauty. I would DEFINITELY recommend booking a kayaking trip with Rodrigo. Professional, FUN, friendly... and such a great way to see Paraty!!!

My 22 year old daughter and I (53 year old mom) had a wonderful hiking experience with Rodrigo. The view from Mamangua was amazing, but it was also fun to hike through the forest and enjoy the peaceful beaches of the area. We were even able to enjoy an impromptu and tasty squid dinner with a local fisherman. It was a wonderful way to really absorb the beauty of the area and be far away from any crowds.
