I will be your guide for the day to show you whatever you most want to see in Christchurch. Whether it's a look through the museum and the gallery, a stroll through the Botanical Gardens, a walk through Christchurch's last stand of native bush, catching a glimpse of a kiwi at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, a drive to the beach or a tour of historic buildings in the area, I'm flexibile to cater to your interests. Living in Christchurch all my life, I know all the secret well-hidden spots that the big tour companies miss out.
The emphasis of the tour is on your own interests, so it is difficult to write a complete description. Every tour is different.
(Note: 5 percent of all tour profits will be donated to the New Zealand Conservation Trust in order to help save the kiwi from extinction.) |

Note: This is a sample itinerary. I am flexible and open to anything you particularly want to do in Christchurch. I can tailor the tour to suit those interests.
8am. I will pick you up from wherever you are staying.
- The morning can be spent exploring the museum and art gallery. The Arts Centre is also nearby, the former university which is now a haven for artists and unique cafes, as well as the preserved lecture theatre of Ernest Rutherford, the New Zealand scientist who split the atom.
12pm Lunch at a local cafe of your choice.
- Dean's Bush, the only remaining tract of native bush on the Canterbury Plains, and the historic colonial house nearby.
- Drive up the Port Hills for a view of Christchurch
- Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, an institution that is central to the preservation of many native NZ species. (Guaranteed to see a kiwi!)

150 NZD - The amount of extra money you will need will depend very much on what you want to see. Some tours will require only money for food and drinks on the way. Others will require the costs of entry fees for specific locations.
Willowbank Wildlife Reserve: 25NZD
Rutherford's Lecture Theatre: Gold coin donation (ie. 1 or 2NZD)
Climbing the cathedral tower: 5NZD
The Antarctic Centre: 48NZD
Punting on the Avon: 20NZD
So as you can see, extra costs will depend what you want to do and if you want to buy souvenirs. |
