The Volcán Barú (also Volcán de Chiriqui) is the tallest mountain in Panama at 3, 475 metres (11, 400 ft), located 35km from the border of Costa Rica. Due to its height and Panama's relatively short width, it is possible to see both the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea from Volcán Barú's peak on a clear day. The occasional fall of hail or ice pellets has been reported on the summit, where the minimal temperature can be below 0°C (32°F) and the formation of frost is frequent during the dry season. Volcán Barú is a dormant, but potentially active volcano just south of the Continental Divide in the western Chiriquí Province. It is surrounded by a fertile area of cool highlands drained by the Chiriquí and Caldera rivers. The towns of Volcan and Cerro Punta can be found on its western side, while Boquete is on the eastern flank. | We will pick you up at your Boquete hotel at 11pm and deliver you to the Boquete trailhead where you will begin your journey to the summit. Arriving near daybreak you will rest and enjoy the vistas of both oceans (weather permitting) before hiking back the way you came to return to your hotel by midday. Rest and celebrate your accomplishment. You have conquered Baru! |

| Meet up location: Meet up location: You will be picked up at your hotel reception area in Boquete. Once you book your tour you will receive your guide's telephone number. Included in your tour is transportation to and from your Boquete hotel. If you don't know your Boquete hotel at the time of booking, please contact us with this information before your arrival in Panama. If you require transportation to Boquete from David, please purchase our shuttle service. |
