Dazu Grottoes (Baodingshan) (2 hours): Dazu is a county under the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality. It is 83 kilometers to the west of the Chongqing metropolitan area and 256 kilometers to the east of Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province. The Dazu Grottoes spread across more than 75 sites in the county, and contain over 50, 000 stone sculptures carved from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). They are mainly located on Baoding (Treasure Peak) Mountain, Beishan (Northern) Mountain, Shimen (Stone Gate) Mountain, Nanshan (Southern) Mountain, and Shizhuan Mountain.
You will be picked up from your hotel by your guide for your one day tour. After about two hours' drive, we will arrive at Dazu Country. Then onto Dazu Grottoes, which includes two scenic areas: Baodingshan and Beishan. First visit Baoding area and then Beishan area. The Dazu Rock Carving is a piece of art among China's grottoes. It's not only rich in content but also carved with marvelous technique. It skillfully combines the scientific principles of mechanics, optics, and clairvoyance with statues themselves and landform. The Dazu Rock Carving is reputed as "Artistic Palace of the Tang and Song Dynasties". After the tour, you'll be transferred to your hotel.
8:30am--10:30am Transfer to Dazhu Rock Carving 10:30am-14:00pm Visit Dazhu Rock Carving, including the lunch time. 14:00pm-16:30pm Back to Chongqing hotel.
