When you visit Rome the Capitol is an absolute must-see. One of the major hills of Rome used to host the house of Jupiter. The iconic view of the Capitoline Square is a masterpiece of Michelangelo. Yet few know that inside the Renaissance palaces there's one of the most fascinating art collections in the world. Founded by the Pope Sixtus IV who donated the famous she-wolf together with other ancient bronze pieces to Roman people. The symbol of Rome is still held inside it, as well as the Colossus of Constantine, Marcus Aurelius on the horse, ancient art that decorated lavish Villas of Julius Cesar and other prominent personalities. We'll look into the burial inscriptions of gladiators and charioteers that tell us curious facts about their lives. We'll admire a breathtaking view of Roman Forum out of the arches of the 2, 000 year-old Tabularium. Add to this a wonderful atmosphere away from crowds and mass tourism. Just you, the Past, and the absolute Beauty. Well, and some of my stories to spice it.
We will start our tour with the Capitoline square that is a wonderful puzzle of Rome's greatest epochs. After that we'll enter the Old Senatori Palace that used to be the seat of Rome's Government. Stunning frescoes of late Renaissance will tell us so much about the origins of Rome. Whether those are legends or real stories one thing is sure - you cannot understand Rome without them. To follow a collection on Etruscan art will bring some light on the mysterious civilisation. Greek and Roman amazing statues and mosaics, the foundations of the Temple of Jupiter (2, 500 years old) and the fragments of the gigantic statue of Constantine. After that we'll visit the Roman state Archive building (Tabularium) that offers a wonderful view of Forum Romanum. We'll continue in the New Palace whey the keep the most stunning Ancient Art, together with the busts of Roman Emperors. Let us see if you'll be able to recognise some of them!
