Cairo has a lot to live up to; the jewel of the orient, the city of one thousand minarets and the melting-pot of ancient and modern civilizations are just a few of its monikers.
To take in some of the city's magnitude, take a tour to the Egyptian Museum, the Church of St. Simon, the Ibn-Tulun Mosque and Tahrir Square.
It's at this square that the 25th January Revolution took place and many brave people lost their lives to free Egypt. Find out how the Egyptians MAKE history!
At the museum you see the magnificent heritage of the pharaohs. See the splendid collection of the famous boy-king Tut. Never miss the breath-taking Golden Mask. See the impressive mummies which still have hair, finger and toe nails and teeth.
Visit the St. Simon Church. This area witnessed an unbelievable miracle in the middle ages (an entire hill has been relocated ).
Visit the Ibn-Tulun mosque, one of the largest and most dramatic mosques in old Cairo with a graceful unique minaret you can never find else where. |
