This city exploration wants to give you a broad overview of Berlin's contradictions: imperial pomp next to socialist tenement blocks, world famous art collections bordering the Government District - and yet still enough space for new constructions of the 21st century.
We'll drive past Berlin's highlights: Kurfürstendamm shopping area with the KaDeWe store, Potsdamer Platz, Gendarmenmarkt, the Brandenburg Gate, the Government Area with the Reichstag, and Alexanderplatz. Of course we'll stop several times, e.g. at the Berlin Wall.
We'll gain some insights on the Museum Island and see the marvelous Hackesche Höfe courtyards. Those shape the point of crystallization of today's modern Berlin in its historic core. Between shops, bars, synagogues, art galleries and offices of the cultural avantgarde of cool Berlin Mitte, there are niches and traces telling of Berlin's tragic, glorious and surprising past. |
