Depart Kochi for a relaxed drive to Alleppey ( now Alappuzha ), pass through prosperous and sophisticated villages of Kerala. Upon arrival at Alleppey the 'Venice of the East, which is nestled amidst a thick tangle of lush tropical water ways, we embark on a boat ride in motor lounge for 3 hours. During the boat ride visit villages wherever possible to see a thing or two attractive to the guest, like a paddy field to witness work in the rice field or coconut grove, a church, a temple of Kerala style, or a school where children of farmers and workers study together, see a snake boat sitting in a shed, visit a sacred grove where snakes gods ( not live snakes )are worshipped, visit a toddy shop to taste the local liquor. Following the boat ride drive to a beach hotel for lunch and some time at leisure. After lunch drive back to Kochi. En -route proceed for an orientation tour to Fort Kochi ( the ancient European settlement ) with stops to take photo of Chinese Fishing Nets and St. Francis Church. |
