Akaroa means "Long Harbour" in maori and it is Christchurch's most popular day-tour destination. Join me and explore the scenic Banks Peninsula, with its extinct volcanoes that have formed Lyttelton and Akaroa Harbours, and find out about the maori and French history of this unique area. You can lunch at our recommended restaurant or even try take-away "fish and chips", a favourite for visitors.
We suggest you take a boat trip with award-winning "Black Cat Cruises" and look out for endangered Hectors Dolphins (the smallest in the world), Little Blue Penguins and seals. If we have time on the return we can stop at Birdlings Flat . . . . a stoney beach with pebbles and semi-precious stones.
My tours are flexible and very personal so let me know exactly what you would like and I will do my best to provide a fun and informative day out! |

We stop at "the Hilltop" on the crater rim for photos of Akaroa from above. We also visit Barrys Bay Cheese Factory to sample some of their fine cheese. We have time to explore Akaroa township before heading back to Lyttelton/Christchurch. |
