Wayanad is a hill station, 700 to 2100 meter above from sea level. which is bio-diverse region spread across
2, 132 sq km. There are so many things to see made of nature. There are two wild life sanctuaries , waterfalls, trekking areas , different types of tribals, spice plantations, dams, natural lakes, Island, old caves with neolithic rock carvings, old temples, museum, birds, valley views etc.
Wayanad has a powerful history. Historians are of the view that organised human life existed in these parts, at least ten centuries before Christ.
There are many temples you can visit:
Thirunelli Temple - is a fine specimen of classical Kerala Temple Architecture.
Valliyoorkavu Temple - this Temple is dedicated to Mother Goddess.
Sita Lava-Kusha Temple - this is the only known temple dedicated to Lava and Kusha, the sons of Lord Rama.
Thrissilery Shiva Temple - this is a stunning temple of rather perfect architectural proportions.
Pallikkunnu Church - Dedicated to the Lourdes Matha was built 1905. |
