Travel to the former imperial summer residence. Set in magnificent gardens, Peterhoff is reminiscent of Versailles. It was almost completely destroyed by the Nazis in World War II but has been restored to its full splendor.
Its chandeliers, paintings and other exhibits were fortunately removed before the German occupation.
The gardens are dotted with countless fountains, charming pavilions and summer houses.
The diversity of fountains in the park is surprising - from monumental ensembles like the Samson Cascade to the ever popular Joke Fountains, including one which spays anyone who steps on a particular paving stone.
Particularly impressive is the fact that the landscapers and garden designers who worked on the estate managed to overcome the unfavorable weather conditions of the nothern climate to create a lovely landscape of flowers and greenery. |

It is possible to spend the whole day in Peterhoff - there are so many things to see. It is a big place with many palaces - but we can see a lot in 7 hours.
The itinerary will vary depending on your interest and preference. Besides the Great Palace, Peterhof offers a great many places of interest, smaller palaces, beautiful parks and gardens with 150 fountains.
Please let me know if there are particular things on the Peterhof grounds you would like to see. Or we can decide on our way to Peterhof from St Petersburg. |

The tour to Peterhof may greatly vary depending on how much time you wish to spend there. Because Peterhof has about a dozen museums on it grounds and beautiful parks with 150 fountains. Each of them is intersting and worth seeing! So I put 6 hours which includes the time for the road, walking in the park, visitn at least a couple of palaces-museums, and maybe a short lunch in the garden. |
