In 2012, the 95th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge will take place.
The Battle of Vimy Ridge was a military engagement fought primarily as part of the Battle of Arras, in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of France, during the First World War. The main combatants were the Canadian Corps against three divisions of the German Sixth Army. |

This tour can be tailored to meet the interest of visitors and partciularly Canadians. The tour starts with a visit of Ypres (Flanders Fields Belgium). Then we drive to France. This tour takes you to the line between Armentieres and Arras.We see the Grange Tunnel some 80 feet under the Ridge. We walk the preserved trenches where German and Canadian troops were only yards apart and view the recently refurbished Vimy Memorial.You'll see where Adolf Hitler served and the bunker he is reputed to have used as a billet.
Australians will be particularly interested in seeing the Fromelles memorial, the Loos battlefield, and Vimy Ridge where.
We also see sites in and around the pretty city of Arras including (subject to opening) the recently discovered underground hospital and the French National memorial at Lorrette de Notre Dame. |
