This ride will involve about two and a half hours cycling with a few hills to be climbed. The Tukituki Valley is very popular with cyclists, mainly due to the magnificant views over the valley towards Te Mata Peak. The tour starts in the village of Clive and for the first 10 km it is mainly flat, meandering through coastal wetlands, orchards and vineyards. This is followed by 10km of undulating cycling alondside the TukiTuki River, then across to the other side of the valley finishing with a good climb and a nice down hill ride to the Te Mata Cheese Factory where you can stop for a coffee and some cheese tasting. From there we cycle through orchards back to Clive on the Rotary cycle pathway |

We will meet you in Napier and drive you to our base in Clive. This is a 10km drive along the coast. At our base we will fit you out with a bike, helmet and visibility jacket. Once we are all ready the tour will begin with a pleasant flat 10km warm up (mainly off road through wetlands)before we get to the hilly section. Be prepared for a few photo stops and look forward to the downhill bits!. After crossing the river we have two more short hill climbs. On the return trip there are great views up to Te Mata Peak. You may see para gliders leaping off the top of the Peak and floating down to land in the fields beside the road. After the last descent we stop for a coffee, before a gentle off road cycle back to base along the Rotary pathway. |
