There are many tours to Teotihuacán, but this tour offers you something different: not only discover this ancient civilization that built a city in the first centuries AD almost as big as Rome, but also explore local cuisine and history of the region.
During our visit of the archaeological site, it's a must to climb the two main pyramids and understand their meaning. But we go further and unveil mysteries and daily life through mural paintings, ceramic findings and the surrounding residential units. We'll have a lunch nearby, to discover the Aztec roots of today's traditional dishes and drinks.
In the afternoon you can choose one of the following visits: an an ancient pulque hacienda (fermented agave juice, a sacred beverage of the Aztecs), as this region was the main producer of this lower class drink that now has a revival; an impressive colonial aqueduct to bring water to a monastery, an Augustine monastery that shows spiritual life during the early christianization. |
