The Liwu river has cut a narrow, steep and hundreds of meters high marble gorge through Taiwan's Central mountain range since this subtropical island rose from the sea four million years ago.
On the first day of your tour to the East coast you will see popular sights and experience the best parts of the area on your own with your local driver in the National Park. Continue on the cross island highway to overnight at the alpine elevation of the Qingjing Farm area North of the park, also known for the Sea of Clouds.
Early next morning continue to drive Southeast to Sun Moon Lake, visit sights along and around the lake shore and Puli. Stay overnight in the lake region. Next day visit places on the route and return to your hotel in Taipei by freeway.
The prices are based on a trip by minivan with an experienced Taiwanese driver, who understands basic English; without guide - he is very familiar with this route. Sections of the park may be restricted at times due to the forces of nature or weather. |

Your driver will pick you up from your Taipei hotel in the morning. Together you will drive on the freeway to the East coast and through the 13 km Snow Tunnel to the Yilan plain, and then South towards the Hualien area on to the Taroko National Park.
The air conditioned minivan with driver will take you to selected stops in the park. If you like you can take hikes on open trails, but safety helmets are now required/provided by the park management.
Your overnight stay will be in the rustic Qingjing Veterans Farm area, in the Central Mountain Range.
Next morning you continue across the mountains to Sun Moon Lake where you will visit the scenic spots and stay in a hotel around the lake.
On the third day a drive towards the west coast will return you to the freeway with stops on the route. Your driver will drop you off at the hotel. |

Local hotel arrangement in Qingjing at $70 per person including breakfast to be settled with the driver.
Overnight stay around Sun Moon Lake at $85 per person including breakfast to be settled with the driver.
Weekend hotel surcharges may apply.
Qingjing: entrance fee NT 100.
Sun Moon Lake: boat ride on the lake NT 150 to 250. Round-trip aerial rope-way ride to Formosan Cultural Village NT 300, with park entry NT 780.
