Pamper yourself: relax your body and mind in thermal baths in Beitou and Yangminshan resorts. Many therapeutic hotsprings are found on the slopes of Yangminshan National Park, dotted with hot streams bubbling up from dormant volcanoes.
The national park in Xinbei, greater Taipei lies between Taiwan's Northern Coast and the city. Springs are about an hour away with your professional basic English speaking driver.
At the foot of the park's Datun mountain on the East coast you can hike in the Yehliu Geopark, where the Queen's Head rock gazes out over the Pacific.
There are other choices of springs and scenic routes too, they involve more driving and thus cost:
Wulai, 40 km South of Taipei, and Jiaoxi on the East Coast on the Yilan plain offer further alternatives ranging from hotel resorts to public and private in-room baths.
Jiaoxi, driving through the 13 km Snow Mountain tunnel will bring you to the various hot springs in Yilan on the East Coast in about an hour or more. |

Pickup from your hotel or ship at the time of your choice for an eight hour trip. Enter the Yangminshan National Park area and explore or hike in places of interest to you.
Many hot springs and baths dot the area; from simple public ones to resorts, with separated Japanese to mixed European spa type pools, without and with bathing suits respectively.
Continue to Yehliu to visit the Geopark for a walk and hike of up to 1-2 hours to and from the tip of the 1. 7 kilometer peninsula.
If you visited Beitou hot-springs instead - and if time allows, then see Tansui, a favorite riverside promenade on the Northwest coast. Take in the view of the river and the city from the 17th century Dutch VOC or East India Company's Fort Anthonio and the former British Consulate before returning to your hotel or ship. |

| Bathing suits are only worn in mixed public pools, for these you'll often also need a swim cap to cover your hair. Bring your own towel. Relax for about one hour or more in the various types of pools with soft alkaline to mildly sulpheric water between 32 and 40 degrees Celcius, alternated with a dip in the cold water pool and water jet massage to invigorate your body. |

Yangminshan Tienlai Hot Spring Resort, with 14 bath types: fee of NT$ 600 on weekdays, or NT$ 800 in the weekend. Spring City Resort in Beitou, entrance to 8 bath types, NT$ 1000 including buffet.
Other local private and public baths charge about half the amount for simpler and more crowded facilities. For these, bring your own towel and drinking water.
