Have a special afternoon (or morning) in Taipei, traveling by metro, bus, taxi and walking in the markets. You pick the spots, and items on your food and shopping list. I'll provide you with the best route, translation and guidance to enjoy the city at your own pace.
Shops in Taipei are open every day from 11 am until 10 or 11 pm, some 24 hours. Spend four hours of your day the easy way, choose sights to see or to shop, and have a meal or local 'small bites' where and when you like it.
An ecological touring introduction to 'going green' on your own on a longer stay.
Departing from your hotel our trip can start in a choice of directions:
West: visit the area around the Presidential Office and Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and see the changing of the guard on the hour, and enjoy a local tea drink or beef noodle specialty. Old Taipei's streets, markets and temples.
East: see the view of Taipei 101, Sun Yat-sen Memorial hall and the new Xinyi or Zhongxiao East Road shopping and entertainment districts.
North: walk in the styled gardens of Chiang Kai-shek's former presidential residence, visit the National Palace museum in Shilin.
Next we can visit shops and food street markets nearby your hotel - anything you like, and travel to as many places as we can in the available time.
Where and When:
Meet up location: your Taipei hotel lobby, or Keelung cruise terminal area.
End location: wherever you choose to continue, or to go on your own - or we return to your hotel or ship.
Duration: 4 hours
Taipei's metro or 'MRT' is the fastest way to get around, and usually the city buses in their own bus lanes are too. There are many inexpensive yellow taxis to fill any gap in our route or to save walking time. We'll keep an eye on the weather, try to stay indoors when it's too hot or raining.
