| After collection at 8. 30am we will head east from the city and soon we will be driving in the Cape Countryside. Our route takes us to the town of Paarl (Pearl) for a visit to the Taal Monument (an option), pearched on a giant granite monolith, with its rich symbolism and spectacular views. This is followed by a cellar tour and wine tasting before we move on to Franschhoek. On the way you will learn a bit about the areas history and geography and we will pass the prison that held Nelson Mandela on his release in 1990. In Franschhoek we will visit the French Hugenot Monument (museum visit is an option) and stroll through this picturesque, french flavoured village and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. From Franshhoek we wind our way through the mountains to Stellenbosch. Here we will partake in a second wine tasting. On our return journey to Cape Town, time allowing, we will stop at a Cheetah and Bird of Prey Sanctuary (entrance fee is additional cost). |
