During this tour, you will do general sightseeing of Saint-Peterbsurg PLUS you will visit the only Synagogue located in Saint-Petersburg - the Grand Choral Synagogue build in 1893 and recently restored. There we will have a meeting with a Jewish community member who will tell you about the life of the community and will answer all your questions. Then we will go to the YESOD Jewish cultural center. The new state-of-the-art, 21st-century, four-story, 75,000-square-foot, $11 million building - replete with meeting rooms, offices, class rooms, and, after 9/11, a blast-resisting security wall - stands as one of the largest Jewish buildings in Russia. The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee organized and sponsored the capital project, involving partners and foundations.

Our tour will start in the lobby of your hotel.
During the day, we will plan our time and itinerary so that we could visit and see all the major sights in the city AND the Jewish places, such as the Grand Choral Synagogue where we will tour the Grand Choral Synagogue itself and the Small Synagogue.
OPTIONAL #1: meeting with the community member.
OPTIONAL #2 : concert of Jewish music.
We will also visit the YESOD Jewish cultural center. You will get acquainted with the life of YESOD and at the end you will be shown a truly shocking short movie about the life of Jews during the siege of Leningrad 1941-1944.
Other sights on our way: St. Isaac's cathedral, Church on the Spilled Blood, Admiralty, Spit of St.Basil's Island, Peter and Paul Fortress, Aurora cruiser, Peter's Log cabin, Smolny convent, St.Michaels castle, Russian Museum, Alexander-Nevsky lavra...and many more!!!
At the end of the tour we will return to your hotel or to any other place you specify within the city limits. |
