| Tour Guide Legal Requirements |
Most places in Canada have no specific requirements for tour guiding, but several important exceptions exist.
Guides are required to be licensed in order to guide in Montreal and in Quebec City.
Additionally, guides operating on trails and/or backcountry areas of Canada's National and Provincial Parks must be licensed, permitted, and insured.
Securing a license and permit for guiding in Canada's Mountain National and Provincial Parks will require that the permittee be appropriately certified for their activity by the Interpretive Guides Association (IGA) and/or the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG).
Guides making Incidental use of crown land are required to belong to a recognized association for the activity in question and adhere to industry best practices. Intensive use of crown land requires the guide to hold valid Tenure. report error
