Qianwei Ecological Village on the Chongming Island (under the jurisdiction of Shanghai), the third biggest island in China after Taiwan Island and Hainan Island, was listed as one of the World's 500 best Ecological Villages, and the 1st one in China as well.
Other than the villages, the national park and wetlands on the island are the ideal places to embrace the nature.

The eco-friendly village is around 90km away from the city downtown. We just drive there from your hotel.
Walk or cycle around the village, visit an ancient style farmyard, drive the water wheel, turn the grain mill, carry the bridal sedan chair, attend the cockfighting show, taste the local dishes in the farmer's house, and. . . . . . let's not forget to experience the rural life, just plant and reap the fruit/vegetable, feed the pig/cattle.
If it's not so late, we turn to the national park close by, or to the Xisha Wetland, stroll on the timber trestle stretches away 2km among the reeds and bushes, to experience the scene a Chinese poet described: The wild duck flies with the sunset clouds; the autumn river mirrors the color of the sky.
