Santa Fe photo walking tour |

Photograph Santa Fe's historic center with a pro as your guide |

Founded by Spanish settlers in 1607, Santa Fe (aka "The City Different") is the oldest continuously inhabited state capital in the US. Today as then, the town's physical and cultural center is its leafy plaza, surrounded by shops, restaurants, hotels, galleries, museums, and churches.
Many of the buildings around the plaza offer great photo opps to those who enjoy mixing photography with history, culture and architecture (and a little exercise to boot). Our tour will feature the Palace of the Governors and Indian vendors; San Miguel Mission; St. Francis Cathedral; chili ristras and other colorful details; the miraculous stairs in Loretto Chapel, and more. Along the way you will photograph a variety of architectural styles like pueblo (adobe), territorial, Romanesque revival and even "Pueblo Deco"!
Our tour will cover about 1. 25 miles (2km), so wear comfortable shoes. All levels of photography experience are welcome.
All participants will receive a signed copy of The Photographer's Guide to NM. |

The tour will start on the Santa Fe Plaza. After introductions and a brief orientation, we will walk about . 3 miles (our longest stretch of the day) to San Miguel Mission, then make our way back to the plaza while stopping at various locations to photograph. While at the plaza we will photograph the Palace of the Governors and Indian vendors as well as the nearby Fine Art Museum (designed to look like a mission). Our last stop will be Burro Lane and the historic Lensic Theater, which are located about 2 blocks West of the plaza.
During the tour, and depending on participants' interests, needs and photo experience, I will discuss and offer compositional suggestions, technical tips (f-stops and shutter speeds), and even a little history. We will also stop, as needed, for "unscheduled" photo ops, refreshments and comfort breaks. |
|
| Meet up location: We will meet at the obelisk (tall, pointy, concrete shaft) in the middle of the Santa Fe Plaza (100 Old Santa Fe Trail). I will be wearing a photo backpack and standing next to a deployed tripod. If you are staying in the Downtown area, most hotels are within easy walking distance from the plaza. If you are driving, please email me for parking information. |
|
| End location: We will end our tour at Burro Lane/Lensic Theater (211 West San Francisco St.), located two blocks West of the plaza. I will be happy to help you with directions back to the plaza, hotel or parking location. |
