Many people agree that one can really tell a lot about the country and its citizens by trying national dishes. Like experiencing the city on foot, you need the experience of local cuisine.
Of course, you can find lots of restaurants and cafes, but it will be a more profound experience to share dinner with a local Petersburger at his or her home. You will see how Petersburgers live - we will visit an apartment in the city. Your guide will interpret for you the story of the host family, you will see the photos from the family archive. You will have an informal chat in a relaxed atmosphere and get to know not only your host family better, but go deeper into the Russian soul, feel the life of locals from the inside. Don't speak Russian? No worries...I will translate and interpret everything for you! |

You will be picked up at your place and we'll travel to the apartment of a Russian lady, who is definitely a good cook and a nice person.
A dinner will be waiting for you. The menu is to be discussed according to your wishes and diet.
By the way, quite often the definition of the word 'dinner' in Russia is something in between 'lunch' or 'dinner' in many other countries. That's why the tour starts between 1 and 3 pm.
Our suggestion:
Russian borsch (beetroot-based soup) or schi (cabbage soup)
Beef Stroganov and potatoes
Russian pancakes with jam
some traditional drinks (they may vary):
compote, berry drink, kvas (bread-based drink, like Coke but with specific flavour, most often non-alcoholic),
alcoholic drinks: vodka, Russian berry liqueur, Russian beer.
A bottle of Soviet champagne and white-bread sandwiches with red caviar are quite frequently served on a festive occasion such as receiving guests.
Then the guide will see you off to your place. |

Meet up location: Your hotel in Saint-Petersburg. I will be waiting in the lobby of the hotel and holding a sign with your name on it.
The tour should start between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. |

Guide service as an interpreter during the dinner and I am responsible for all the arrangements. I will accompany you to reach the apartment of the host family and see you off back to your place. |

Transportation.
It's up to you to decide whether you are using public transport (metro, bus, trolley) (app. 20 roubles per ride) or taxi (app. 500 roubles one end) or book a car for the whole day (app. 450 roubles per hour)
It is considered to be polite to present the host a small gift or souvenir, flowers or some candies. |
