The botanical garden was established in Rio de Janeiro by the prince from Portugal D. João the VI in 13 of June in 1808.
One of the most beautiful and best preserved green areas in the city, the Botanical Garden is an example of the diversity of Brazilian and foreign flora. There are around 6, 500 species (some endangered) distributed throughout an area of 54 hectares. The air is free and there are greenhouses.
nowadays it has a collection in more than 6500 different species of plants from Brazil and other parts of the tropical world, in open air distributed in 54 hectares. During the walk you will be able to see the majestic imperial palm trees, the insect eating plants greenhouses for, the orchid and the Burle Marx Bromeliad Greenhouse and the lake with the water lillie.
Also, we'll drive through Tijuca Forest, the lasrgest urban forest in the world, and visit Tijuca's National Park and it's waterfall and China View's Belvedere |
