For a complete visit to Ravenna I suggest a full-day guided tour (to a maximum of 6 hours) which will enable you to fully appreciate the splendours of our art and history: the visit will include the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Orthodox Baptistery (5th century), the Archiepiscopal Museum housing the renowned 6th century ivory throne and Chapel of Saint Andrew, the Gothic Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo and the Arian Baptistery (early 6th century), the two splendid Byzantine churches of San Vitale and Sant'Apollinare in Classe (6th century). All these marvels can be seen simply by taking a stroll through the centre of Ravenna and a short trip to S. Apollinare in Classe, just 4 km. away. During our walk in the pedestrian area you will have a chance to step into a mosaic workshop, have a pause for coffee in the main square and visit the Tomb of Dante Alighieri, Italy's most distinguished poet, who died here in 1321. |

The cost of admission ticket to the monuments is 8,50 euros. From March 1st till June 15th, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia is NOT included in the Euro 8,50 ticket. Additional entrance fee of Euro 2,00. The entrance ticket to Sant'Apollinare in Classe: 5 euros per person. Between Nov. and Feb. sites close at 5 p.m.
The cost of transport. INFORMATION FOR MY CRUISE GUESTS: I suggest You to ask at the help desk of your ship if the shuttle bus service between the pier of Porto Corsini and Ravenna center is available. This service could be offered by the ship or you must buy the ticket for it. If You prefer the private taxi, this service costs around 25 € one way. |
