We will depart from Puerto Madryn along national Road number 3, passing by Trelew, a very important town in the valley of Chubut River. We can see the contrast between the desert and the green valley. Going up the slopes of the plateau we will go on southwards up to the Atlantic Ocean coast to visit the largest Magellan penguins continental breeding colony. We will walk among nests and penguins for about two hours along a 1. 5-kilometre-trail. |

We pick you up at your accomodation place and set off from Puerto Madryn to Trelew, a very important town in the Valley of Chubut River. There we stop for some quick lunch and restrooms as we have a ninety-minutes'drive to Punta Tombo from there. (optional stop)
Next, we cross the valley having a beautiful view of the green area contrasting the desert. We go up the slope of the plateau and take the road to the penguins colony, passing by some ranches.
In the colony we visit the Visitors Centre and then we start to walk along the trail surronded by nests and pinguins for about 2 hours. We can also see land fauna and sea birds cohabiting the same area.
Back to the car park we can have coffee, drinks or lunch in case we haven't taken the first option in Trelew.
We leave the colony and return to Puerto Madryn in about 2 hours and a half. |
