A famous name as this house was the residence of the leader of the Impressionist Movement, Claude Monet, from 1883 to 1826. The property was left to the Academie des Beaux Art by Claude Monet's son, Michel, in 1966. After a long and expensive restauration, Monet's Museum was open to the public in 1980.
The house, with its pink brick façade, has once again its colorful decor and intimate charm of former times. A precious collection of Japanese engravings is displayed in several rooms, hanging just as it was at Monet's time.
The gardens have been replanted as they once were, with wisterias, azaleas, and the famous Japanese bridge and pond, that inspired the so well known "Water Liles" series. |

Leaving Paris by train or car (that you rent or you booked a driver/car agency, I have no car), it takes about one and a half hour to reach Giverny.
We travel through the hilly, beautiful, Normandy landscape to reach Giverny. Once at Giverny, we visit Monet's gardens and house, beautifully restored. After some free time for you to walk around the garden, village, and the American Museum if you are interested, we travel back to Paris.
It is also a possibility to visit Monet's house from Le Havre. But you have to rent a car. The cost is about 906 euros, this includes a car (taxi, 3 passengers), the guide's hotel, train (from Paris), hotel, dinner and lunch. |
|
| Meet up location: We shall meet at your hotel or the railway station. The specific details will be provided on booking. If it is at the train, I shall tell you the specific place where to meet, and I shall have written you name on a sign. |
