Welcome to Naxos, the largest, richest and self-sufficient island of the Cyclades.
Among all its products, Naxos was mostly famous for its good wine since ancient times. According to the mythology, the ancient God of wine and entertainment, Dionysos, was born and lived in Naxos and it was him that planted the first grapevine on the island.
The island of Naxos is also characterized by the cultivation of citron trees (the first among citrus fruits that was cultivated in Europe) and the use -distillation of the citron leaves for the production of a unique eau-de-vie awarded the Protected Designation of Origin award (Citron of Naxos).
During this amazing full day tour your local guide will take you to visit vineyards, citron orchards, the citron distillery and the ancient Temple of Dionysos. You will also have the opportunity to taste "Citron of Naxos" assorted by citron-bread and enjoy a light meal with local products accompanied by the famous local wine at a farmhouse overlooking the sea. |
