We will drive east of Jerusalem, to the Judea Desert near the Dead Sea and Jericho.
On our way, we will visit a mosaic museum in the sight were the "Good Samaritan Inn" Described in the gospel of Luke used to be.
Continue to a date orchard, near Jericho and learn how Israelis apply advanced desert agriculture technologies in a salty arid area. On to Qumran, where the Essences (a Jewish sect of priests), lived more than 2000 years ago. It is belived that John The Baptist lived with them some time. The most ancient copies of the bible, written on animal skin, known as "The Dead Sea Scrolls", were found here. We will drive through the oasis of Ein Gedi, where we will see water falls and wild Ibexes.
We will ascend to the top Masada cliff, for an in depth tour of the site which was declared by UNESCO as a "World Heritage Site" and it is most popular place among tourists visiting Israel. It will be possible, at extra cost, to end up the day in a short swim and float in the Dead Sea in one of the beaches nearby. |
