If you have only one day on the North Shore and want to see what the big deal is about the mountain and forests, this hike is for you.It has a little bit of everything - without being too physically demanding.

The route is designed to be mostly flat as it parallels the Lynn Creek up and down from Lynn Headwaters to the Lynn Valley Suspension Bridge and back. (We will encounter some mild hills and stairs, however.)

Local knowledge pays dividends as we can see many attractions without having to back track at all in a smooth 8-9 kilometer loop.

The pace can be pushed if you prefer to turn this into a jog or run and we can cover all the highlight areas in a little over an hour including short stops.

You'll be amazed at the sheer natural beauty that can be found so close to town. On this route, you can feel like you are 100 miles from the city.

Lynn Canyon is the one North Shore treasure that I encourage everyone to experience as it is quintessentially North Vancouver.

Departure time can be flexible .

  Itinerary:
We'll drive to one of the overflow parking lots at Lynn Headwaters in a luxury sedan.

From here, we'll take a trail bordering Lynn Creek and hike to Headwaters to get a great river view in a clearing near historic Mills House. The icy water is fresh, clear and fast.

We'll then head back downstream passing remnants of old wooden pipes that have been abandoned over time.

A diversion around Rice Lake will also give us phenomenal picture opportunities. (Used as a location to shoot movies.)

We'll pass the Gazebo and the Demonstration Forest on the way to the Pipeline bridge that soars over the Creek far below.

Stairs then descend to the picturesque 30ft Pool where the creek emerges from a cataract into a calm deep pool. There is good scrambling around here for the adventurous.

The walk to the Lynn Canyon Suspension bridge is gorgeous and the bridge is an epic engineering marvel swaying wildly over the creek below. Crossing it is a blast.

The return hike on the other side continues to offer great trails

It is a great excuse to do some of the things you talk about but never do. Kerry does a great job of setting everything up for you and made all the new people feel welcome.
