Wine & Cheese In Fort Langley (shore excursion, transfer or tour) |
Fort Langley, the birthplace of British Columbia |
Hold me, squeeze me, make me wine. . . 45 minutes east of downtown Vancouver is the Village of Fort Langley. This is where it all began, 24 men built a fort which was to become a trading post for the Hudson Bay Company and in 1858 James Douglas proclaimed British Columbia to be a crown colony of the British Empire.
The Fort Wine Company was opened 11 years ago by a tug boat captain/cranberry farmer and what they do with a cranberry will leave you speechless. After a personal tour of the winery we will settle down in the tasting room with a cheese platter and a selection of fine wines such as Ghost of the Bog (white cranberry), Mighty Fraser (red cranberry), Valley Girl (blueberry) or Bite Me! (strawberry). There are 11 wines to choose from. The labels on the bottle are suitable for framing with art-deco style artwork reminicisent of the early 1900's.
We will also have a walking tour of Fort Langley, you will see the replica fort which is a National Historic Site, the 1910 CN Railway Station and more. |
