I'm knowledgeable, experienced and passionate about Israel and would be delighted to show you the country. I was born in Israel but grew up in Ottawa, Canada, so I am a native English speaker. I have lived in Jerusalem with my family for more than 25 years and have been a licensed guide for more than 15 years. This tour is designed for people interested in hiking and nature; there are also great opportunities for taking photographs. We explore the area of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth and a unique geological area in the Judean desert. You can choose from various hikes based on your group and abilities. The desert can be hot but we will be able to cool off by enjoying some pools at the base of the waterfalls. As this is a hike in a nature reserve there is a good chance that we will see ibex, a kind of mountain goat, and hyrax, a furry gopher-like animal, that live there. Included on the tour (time permitting) is a visit to the remains of a 5th century synagogue with an interesting mosaic floor.
Usually we hike Nahal David in the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve. I also guide Nahal Arugot, more off the beaten path and we hike partly in water. We will have an opportunity to swim/splash in natural pools under a waterfall. Hopefully, we will see the animals that live in the reserve.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
