From the early city we will go west to investigate the modern city. We'll look at how great city planners have shaped the city, always based on William Penn's 1682 plan. Walking or using public transit (or your car, if you like), I will show you the African American Museum, Chinatown, the Gallery (220-store shopping mall), and we'll go to the Reading Terminal Market (a good place for lunch). We'll see the huge Wanamaker Store building, and then I'll take you up the tower of the great City Hall, and on to view the city's tallest buildings, ending with the famous LOVE sculpture. |
