This tour can be taken in the morning or afternoon. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, smells and history of South Africa's Mother City. I will tell you about the city's origins and give you insights and anecdotes of this diverse and dynamic city as we take it all in at ground level. On the menu is a visit to the Castle (South Africa's oldest building) and District 6 or Slave Lodge Museums as well as walking through several markets. Along the way we will pass buildings of historic merit and walk through the beautiful and peaceful Company Gardens with it's many civic buildings. |

| From our starting point we wind our way around the city in an anti-clockwise direction. Firstly we head towards the Castle of Good Hope along the way we pass Wagenaar's Reservoir, the flower market, fantastic examples of art deco and colonial architecture. Just before the castle we stop at the Grand Parade and the Old Town Hall. At the Castle you will see various historic displays and aspects of early settlement life. Our route then takes us to the District 6 Museum (Apartheid Era Museum) and the Slave Lodge Museum - one of which we will visit. We pass the houses of Parliment and explore the Company Gardens which also houses: St Georges Cathedral, the Holocaust and Jewish Museums, National Art Gallery, SA Natural History Museum and Planetarium. If your like we will take a well deserved refreshment break at the Gardens Restaurant. On our final stretch we take in the vibrant Bo-Kaap Precinct and end up at Green Market Square, in the heart of the commercial city centre. |

Meet up location: I will collect you at your accommodation reception or if you are staying outside of the city we will meet at the entrance to the Cape Sun Hotel in Strand Street. Easily found by asking directions or taking a taxi.
Please bring with you: sunscreen, hat and wind-breaker/jacket. |

| End location: The tour will end at Green Market Square - a central city location. Great local craft shopping opportunities can be found here. You can chose to stay in the city or I will return you to your accommodation. |
