We leave the city taking the highway to the northwest, to explore the rural hinterland, called the Recôncavo, that surrounds the bay of All Saints. This is the land of sugar cane plantations, peaceful colonial towns and busy country markets. Our first stop is in Santo Amaro where we visit the busy and biggest country market of the region. We continue our drive to Cachoeira, the jewel of the Bahian Recôncavo nestled in the deep valley of the Paraguaçu River. The visit of this historical city will be a walking tour through the picturesque street of the old center with its colonial constructions. We can have luch in a fantastic restaurant with a stunning panoramic view ont the valley and the whole area around. After lunch we visit the Danemann Cultural Center where we can also see world class cigars being expertly rolled. |
