We leave for Bastogne. Free time for a quick lunch before meeting our battlefield guide.
The tour starts with a short introduction, gathered around the 11th Armored Division "Thunderbolt" Sherman tank, "Road to Liberty" milestone and the McAuliffe Monument at the Place McAuliffe.
We set off for the battlefield tour: Bizory, Bois de la Paix (Peace Wood), Bois Jacques (foxholes of the "Easy Company", well-known from the "Band of Brothers"), Foy, Recogne (US temporary cemetary and German cemetary), Noville (Combat Team Desobry), Mardasson and MacAuliffe's shelter where he pronounced the historical "nuts !". |
